It's a party!

My friend Brittney Carman decided to throw a party for her daughter Stella today, for Stella turned four. Stella couldn't wait to tear open her gifts, she couldn't stop telling all of us, "I turned four!" and she couldn't stop hugging whoever she felt gave her the best gift.

Moving towards my sixth month of residence in USA, and now having lived in both big city and small town America, I can safely say that Moscow, Idaho, is a wonderful community to live in. I confess I am still homesick often enough, yet I also know that I will cry buckets when it will be time for me to leave everyone here and return to Delhi. Friends make your existence wherever you go, and I have made some truly special ones in Moscow. Happy birthday, Stella. Yes, you did turn four today!

and we will cry buckets too, with no one to direct our indian feasts! your friendship has made moscow a little brighter for us too, s. thanks for coming tonight, for sharing a bit of our lives.

also, if we had known you would be publishing pictures we might have brushed stella's hair or washed the self-inflicted "snake tattoo" off her arm. she's a little more charming cleaned up, but, hey, she's four now and her new mantra has become "you're not the boss of me." if you want her, s, she's yours. :)

Yoohooo! Birthday wishes for Stella! She is adorable!

I remember yelling, "I turned 18!" and subsequently "I can apply for a driving license!"
Not that I use it though. :-/

Happy Birthday, Stella!

@Brittney
Stella looks charming in those pictures. And, Sayan is directing indian feasts? You must be kidding!

@Rohit
Stella is four years old! She is supposed to yell "I turned four". You are in your late teens, for heaven's sake!

@ Subhadip Da
Yeah...but I think you didn't notice that the reason for that was my driving license. :-/

Belated Happy Birthday to Stella!! Hope this 5th year of her existence turns out to be the first in a series of wonderful years full of love, life and laughter (why do I feel that this reads like an Archies card!)

The pics were too nice. She looks really, really cute in the bottom left picture, what with that expressin of hers. :)

And Sayandi, you sure do make lasting friendships wherever you go. *bows*

@ D
Aaj mere ghar mein party hain. Aur aap invited ho.

@ Brittney
You are so incredibly sweet. I AM going to keep Stella with me for sometime at least. You know as and when I get my own country, everyone will have to wear red. And given Stella's love for red, she is the most ideal candidate.

@ Rohit
That's ok. I yell with joy at each of my birthdays. It makes complete sense to me every single time.

@ Mayuri
Thank you.

@ Subhadip
What makes me incompetent as the navigator of Indian feasts? Do tell! Grrrrrrrr....you have never even had anything made by me...how can you judge!

@ D and Subhadip
No one yells at Rohit on my blog.

@ Butterfly
Yes, Stella is very sweet.
I had strawberry cake and strawberry icecream. Homemade and to die for.

@ Swetank
That's a sweet message. I am sure Brittney (who has been following this post) is reading this and smiling.
And incidentally, that's my favorite Stella picture as well. :)
And I accept your bow in all humility. :D

@ Kanu
True. Wish we could all retain that simplicity and frankness.

ohhh that is so cute!

"Navigator of Indian feasts" - you see the problem here?

I would rather have an executive chef supervise any feast and have a navigator find the way for me when I go on a hiking expedition.

Belated happy birthday to Stella!
Turning 4 is special and having such a cool party to celebrate is just awesome!!

@ brittney - stella looks perfect just like that!! a comb would just stump her style!! and a snake tattoo!! :-D well we know now whom sayantani can approach finally when she wants hers!!

@ sayantani - what directing do u do at these feasts??????? sounds intriguing!! :-) who's cooking and what??? are there lots of kadhais bubbling with hot oil and jalebis or handis overflowing with fragrant biriyanis?? do u have a dais to stand on and what happens after you wave your baton?? do let us know!!

@ Rohit
Are you still laughing your evil laughter?

@ Komal
:)

@ Subhadip
Hmm...now I am enlightened.

@ Burf
Thanks.

@ Keka
Oh, nothing half as dramatic as that. We just get together and cook Indian food...that's all.
And you bet, I AM going to turn to Stella when the time comes for the tattoo.

@ Richa
Yes, Stella is a doll.
And lots of fuchsia in this post as you noticed. :)

you are all so sweet to wish my daughter so many happy birthdays! fuchsia is the color of one of stella's bedroom walls. the other 3 are turquoise, chosen by stella and inspired by a trip with her father to mexico.

@subhadip:
in fact sayantani's skill in the kitchen has become something of a burden around my household. my husband, spoiled by one particularly succulent indian meal, has raised his standards. now he thinks that everything i cook should be equally as tasty. honestly, he keeps saying "can we ask sayantani over for dinner again tonight?" apparently my hot dogs and potato chips just don't compare. :)
